Gaussian horn
A horn with a constant stress distribution over a substantial portion of its length. Such horns may be used where very high amplitudes (i.e., high streses) are required (e.g., medical probes). However, compared to step horns Gaussian horns have relatively low gain. They also have relatively high stored energy which may make them harder to start.
